Getting Started in Roman Revivalism
So I'm going to use this post to give everyone tips on how to get started in Roman Revivalism. The most important thing to do is to decide if this is something that you wish to practice. While the Romans had strict rules about the order that ritual was to take place, and even that everything had to be word perfect, the way that I practice doesn't involve things being word perfect. I still cover my head, though. So here's some tips on how to get started.
1: Decide if this is something that you wish to practice.
2: Get a couple of books on Roman religion written by credible sources.
3: Set up an altar to the Roman gods. Note: You can get most of the things that you need pretty cheap at your local craft, or second hand, shops.
4: Join a group, if you wish.
5: Buy more books.
6: Become active in your Roman recon community. Note: In America we really don't have a large community, thus we aren't included in the list of religions that the military recognizes so you'll be stuck with Wiccans.
7: If reading all the books, and having to do ritual the Roman way, doesn't appeal to you then you could just practice Wicca but have the Roman gods in it. Note on this one: Don't claim that your tradition is hundreds of years old.
Hope it helps.
